DISTINCTIVE is a multi-disciplinary collaboration of 10 universities and 3 key industry partners from across the UK’s civil nuclear sector.
In 2014, members of the DISTINCTIVE Leadership Team took the consortium “on the road”.
The aim was to engage with all stakeholders concerned with nuclear waste and decommissioning issues in the UK, to promote awareness of the programme and to initiate conversations on how links between industry and academia can be developed.
Collaboration between the consortium and industry is the key to a successful outcome for the programme. It ensures that the programme remains relevant to the strategic need of the industry, and facilitates knowledge transfer and uptake.
Two ‘Road Show’ events were held over a period of 6 months. In total, the consortium met with over 60 representatives from 15 organisations from across UKs civil nuclear sector.
The consortium would like to thank our partners, NNL and Sellafield Ltd., for their help in organising the 1st event that was held at the Central Laboratory in Cumbria in July.
