DISTINCTIVE is a multi-disciplinary collaboration of 10 universities and 3 key industry partners from across the UK’s civil nuclear sector.
On Tuesday 29th April, over 45 individuals from academia and industry assembled in Leeds to kick-start the DISTINCTIVE research programme.
The meeting commenced with presentations from members of the Leadership Team. They gave an overview of the programme, and the research themes and objectives. The presentation session was followed by fruitful conversations regarding how to maximise the impact of the consortium, and how collaboration between organisations (academia, industry and governing bodies) can be fully utilised to ensure that the consortium is successful in meeting its goals.
Presentations from the KO meeting can be downloaded from our document library.
Attendees also took the opportunity to say goodbye to Prof. Simon Biggs, who was leaving the University of Leeds, and the position of principal investigator, to become the Executive Dean of Engineering, Architecture and IT at the University of Queensland in Australia. Everyone in the consortium wishes Simon all the best in his new adventure.
Prof. Michael Fairweather (University of Leeds) has replaced Simon as the programme PI and project leader.
